One More Row
One of my favorite things about summer is walking through the farmers markets and seeing tables full of fresh vegetables, herbs, flowers, honey, and homemade goods. It's more than just shopping—it's neighbors supporting neighbors.
It got me thinking...
If you have a backyard garden, what if next year you planted just a little extra?
An extra row of beans.
A few more tomato plants.
A little more lettuce or zucchini.
Maybe enough to sell at the farmers market. Maybe enough to share with a neighbor. Maybe enough to donate to a local food pantry.
Imagine if 50 backyard gardeners each grew just a little more than they needed. Those small efforts could add up to hundreds of pounds of fresh, local food staying right here in our community.
You don't have to own a farm to make a difference. Sometimes all it takes is one extra packet of seeds and a willingness to share the harvest.
Communities grow stronger when we grow together. Who knows... maybe next summer we'll see you at the farmers market!
